When an event is rescheduled
Sometimes a business moves an event to a new date instead of cancelling it. A weather forecast shifts the outdoor dinner from Saturday to the following weekend. A speaker reschedules a workshop. When that happens, you keep priority on the new date — your seat is held for you while you decide whether you can attend.
Customers with an active event booking. This page explains the choice you'll be offered when an event you booked is rescheduled.
How you'll find out
Just like a cancellation, you'll get both:
- In-app notification. Bell icon lights up.
- Email. With a one-tap link straight to the decision page.
The message tells you the new date, the owner's reason for moving the event, and how long you have to decide.
Your two choices
You have until the deadline to pick one of two options:
Keep my spot on the new date
Your booking shifts to the new date with the same party size, the same payment hold, and the same priority. No new payment is taken — the hold from your original booking carries over. Your booking returns to Confirmed status.
If the new date doesn't work for you, decline now rather than later. Holding a seat you can't use blocks someone else from joining.
Cancel and refund me
Your booking is cancelled and your payment hold is released (or your charge is refunded if you paid up front). The freed seat goes back to the event's availability — someone else can grab it.
The refund follows the same rules as any business-initiated cancellation. See When a business cancels your booking for refund timing details.
What if I don't decide in time?
The deadline is set by the business — typically a week, but they may set it shorter for urgent reschedules. If you don't respond by then, your booking is automatically cancelled and refunded. We won't keep your hold open indefinitely.
You'll see the deadline clearly on your booking detail page and in the email — count from there, not from the moment the event was rescheduled.
During the decision window
While you're deciding, your booking shows a Pending reschedule status pill. You'll see:
- The original and new proposed dates, listed together (the original struck through).
- The owner's reason.
- The deadline to decide.
- Two buttons: Confirm new date and, to decline, Cancel and refund — or simply Cancel booking when your booking was free and there's nothing to refund.
Once you decide, the status updates immediately and the choice is final. You can't undo a decision — but if you accepted the new date and then can't make it, you can use the normal Cancel button to cancel and get refunded just like any other booking.
What happens to other people's bookings
Every customer who booked the event gets the same offer. We don't auto-shift anyone — each person decides individually. The event capacity stays the same: every customer who accepts holds their seat, every customer who declines frees one for the public.
This means an event that originally sold out may have open seats again on the new date if some customers can't make the new schedule. Keep an eye on the event page if you missed your chance the first time.
Frequently asked questions
Can the business reschedule an event multiple times?
Yes, in theory — but each reschedule restarts the decision flow for everyone. If you accepted the first reschedule and the business moves the event again, you get a fresh notification asking the same question for the newer date.
Will I lose my add-ons?
If you bought add-ons (like a parking pass or a wine pairing), they carry over with your booking when you accept the reschedule. If you decline, they're refunded with the rest of your payment.
What if the new date conflicts with another booking I have?
You'll see your other bookings in My bookings — check there before deciding. If you accept and later realize there's a conflict, just cancel the booking using the normal Cancel button.
Can I propose a different date back to the business?
Not directly through the app. If the proposed date doesn't work and you'd like to attend on yet another date, decline the reschedule for a refund and reach out to the business through their profile to ask if other dates are coming.
